Countdown by Paperade is an application that inserts pretty flash animated countdown timers into your Facebook profile.

Creating one is easy. Select the type of count down, enter the date and select create.

After creating an event, you’re returned to a listing of all your timers.

And publishes a realtime timer to your profile that looks like this..

But I think this default counter looks ugly, so I decided to change the skin. This is easily accomplished by clicking on the link "Change Skin" link.

There are presently about 9 skins to choose from. My favorite is the Digital theme. In addition to adding your own countdowns, you can insert countdowns that other people have created.

Overall, I found the application meets it’s description and provides stylish enough skins that I’ll leave it on my profile.

Kinda cool. Pretty simple, if I had something to count down to I would try it out. But for now I’ll just want your vacation countdown! 🙂

I should have added one for Sachi! but alas i never thought to add one to Facebook.. just to her own blog. It’s funny because i actually went to MySpace first just to find a flash clock i could link to my own blog but all the ones i saw were horrendous, these aren’t that bad at all.

I’ve tried a bunch of different countdown apps on Facebook and almost all of them (including this one) require you to click on them for them to work in your profile, otherwise the time is off, sometimes by days. I’ve settled on the “My Countdowns” application, which always shows the correct countdown (or count up) time in your profile. Although it doesn’t have the popular countdowns feature, which is neat.

That’s a limitation of the Facebook platform. All flash must be click to activate. I’ll check out “My Countdowns”.

Why can’t you go out for a longer period of time? Why can’t the counter be edited once it is posted? When creating the counter I alter the date to a future date and submit the application blows up.

Some of us have long term goals to count down!
